All-Ivy Explained

The method for determining All-Ivy status in fencing is a fairly simple one.

First, fencers must have competed in 75 percent of the team's bouts. That means that the men must have at least 12 decisions on the Ivy record and the women must have at least 14.

Of those groups, the top three fencers in terms of winning percentage at each weapon are the first-team All-Ivy designees. In the event of a tie for third place, all fencers who are tied will be named to the first team.

The second team will be comprised of the number resulting in six minus the number of first-teamers. If four fencers earned first-team status, two will be added to the second team. Again, all ties for the sixth-place finish will result in those fencers being named to the second team.
